California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency Tuesday due to six weather events that occurred in the state this year.
The California governor's office said in a statement that, with the declaration of a state of emergency, communities have the opportunity to access state assistance and resources to help them recover from the disasters.
“Governor Gavin Newsom today declared a state of emergency to support recovery efforts from six severe weather events earlier this year that caused significant damage,” the statement said.
