Kristi Noem says there are 200,000 applications from people interested in becoming ICE agents
Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), announced that there are more than 200,000 applications from people interested in becoming members of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
As As the campaign to stop and deport undocumented immigrants ordered by President Donald Trump intensifies, various organizations have denounced alleged abuses by ICE agents. Operations aimed at detaining immigrants with criminal records considered threatening the rest of the citizenry have increased nationwide, as there are now more large facilities to hold them while their legal process to return them to their countries of origin unfolds. Therefore, by providing ICE with more resources, the intention is to increase its operational force, and a recruitment campaign began several weeks ago. The goal is to increase the number of detentions and accelerate the deportation of immigrants, as the 550,000 immigrants reported by the DHS from January to date fall far short of the target set by the nation's leader. However, Kristi Noem indicated in a statement sent to Fox News Digital that soon... ICE will hire enough staff to begin a new phase, where a flood of applications from citizens interested in joining its ranks are already being reviewed. "Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has received more than 200,000 applications from patriotic Americans who want to defend the homeland by expelling the worst immigrant criminals from the United States. Americans are answering their country's call to serve and help expel murderers, pedophiles, rapists, terrorists, and gang members from our country," states part of the letter, which also mentions that death threats against ICE personnel have increased by 8,000%.The alleged success of the DHS recruitment campaign stems from the fact that its vacancies were promoted on social media with the aim of generating interest in the position.
