NFL Latino Youth Honors: the finalists will be part of Super Bowl week
Eight exemplary young people on and off the field are vying for a $25,000 scholarship and personal growth opportunities with the NFL Latino Youth Honors
Super Bowl week has arrived, and that means the national winners of the NFL Latino Youth Honors award will be announced in a few days.
Who are this year's NFL Latino Youth Honors finalists?
This year's eight finalists—one from each division of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC)—are as follows:
Tatiana Gonzalez – Frederick, Maryland, nominated by the Baltimore Ravens (AFC-North). Edward Jordan IV – Jacksonville, Florida, nominated by the Jacksonville Jaguars (AFC-South). Jasen Lopez – Hollywood, Florida, nominated by the Miami Dolphins (AFC-East). Oscar Rios – Downey, California, nominated by the Los Angeles Chargers (AFC-West). Alayna Adamez – Cottage Grove, Minnesota, nominated by the Minnesota Vikings (NFC-North). Will Berry – New Orleans, Louisiana, nominated by the New Orleans Saints (NFC-South). Isabella Jubrey – Windsor, Connecticut, nominated by the NY Giants (NFC-East). Alissa Escutia – Salinas, California, nominated by the San Francisco 49ers (NFC-West).
Opportunity for finalists to achieve personal growth
The organizers of the Latino Youth Honors indicated that the winners (one man and one woman) will each receive a $25,000 scholarship to support their university studies, while the rest of the finalists will receive $5,000.
Sophie Guitron, from Los Angeles, was a winner of the award a year ago in New Orleans. In addition to her academic scholarship, the persevering flag football player gained recognition to the point of participating in an NFL advertising campaign to promote the sport. As an encouraging fact, four of this year's eight finalists have accepted scholarships to play college football. “At the heart of the NFL Latino Youth Honors is our mission to empower and uplift the next generation,” said Marissa Solis, NFL Global Vice President of Brand and Consumer Market, in a statement.
