The statement, dated in New York, where Maduro remains detained along with his wife, Cilia Flores, expresses recognition for the expressions of solidarity received from different countries during the humanitarian emergency facing the South American nation.
“We deeply appreciate the admiration and solidarity expressed by delegations, peoples and governments of the world that have shared their efforts in this very difficult and painful moment for our country,” says the message broadcast on the digital platform.
The publication does not mention any country in particular, although various nations have sent rescue teams, medical assistance and humanitarian aid to assist the affected communities, especially in the state of La Guaira, one of the areas with the greatest material and human damage.
Venezuela faces reconstruction while the judicial process against Maduro continues
Among the countries that have provided support is the United States. President Donald Trump's administration reported this week that it allocated more than $386 million in humanitarian assistance to address the emergency. Likewise, the US Embassy in Caracas indicated this Sunday that US military personnel participate in aid operations coordinated by the State Department.
In his message, Maduro's account also highlighted the work of rescuers, doctors, firefighters, volunteers, members of Civil Protection, organized communities and members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, to whom he attributed a solidarity response to the natural disaster. The text concludes with a call for national unity and to maintain hope during the recovery process. “Venezuela will be reborn with unity and perseverance,” states the publication, which also includes religious references and urges the population to remain in prayer.
While the country advances in reconstruction efforts, Maduro and Flores remain held in a federal prison in New York, where they face charges related to narcoterrorism, use of weapons and conspiracy to introduce drugs into the United States. The next court hearing for both was rescheduled for July 22.
