Pakistan was brought to its knees through Operation Sindoor, now it is China’s turn, India has made a mega plan, now action | india joint services commands army navy air force triservice coordination operation sindoor china military theater command
After the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor and brought Pakistan to its knees in a few days. In this unprecedented military operation, excellent coordination was also seen between the three wings of the army. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) was formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to coordinate between the Army, Navy and Air Force. This also benefited in Operation Sindoor. Now India has fast-tracked the process of implementing the Joint Services Command to use the resources of the triservices in a better way and for coordination during the war. New rules related to this have also been notified. Let us tell you that China's People's Liberation Army has already implemented the theater system. To give a befitting reply to any kind of threat posed by China on the eastern and northern borders of the country, India has now taken the first and big step towards bringing the theater system into existence.
The Government of India has taken an important step towards making the functioning of the armed forces more joint, efficient and effective and has notified the rules under the Inter-Services Organizations (Command, Control and Discipline) Act, 2023 on 27 May. This has paved the way for rapid work towards theater command, which will ensure maximum use of the joint power of the three forces for future war. This step has been taken at a time when in the military clash (Operation Sindoor) with Pakistan on 7-10 May, the three forces together conducted a highly coordinated operation and achieved excellent military results. This incident has made the importance of theaterization of the Armed Forces even more clear.

What are the new rules
Under the new rules, the joint commands associated with the three wings of the army will now be legally empowered. Their chiefs will have disciplinary and administrative rights over the officers and soldiers of the army, air force and navy. Earlier, in such joint units, an officer of one wing of the army could not take action against the personnel of the other wing. The Defense Ministry has described it as a 'historic step to strengthen jointness'. According to the ministry, the new rules provide the necessary framework for the effective operation of inter-service organizations (ISO) and ensure discipline, control and coordination.
The theaterization model proposed by the government includes three major commands:
India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. In this, the three armies carried out precise attacks on the enemy from land, air and sea. The Air Force attacked 13 bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Navy did not allow Pakistani aircraft to come close in the maritime area by forward deployment of INS Vikrant. The Army attacked terrorist hideouts in areas like Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bhimber. Declaring the year 2025 as the 'Year of Reforms', the Ministry of Defense has focused on 9 areas with theaterization being the top priority. Other areas include cyber-security, space war, development of indigenous capabilities and simplifying the process of arms procurement.
CDS General Anil Chauhan is monitoring this entire process. The post was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 and was first held by General Bipin Rawat. India's armed forces are now moving rapidly towards joint operations and integrated use of resources. The new laws and rules form a strong foundation for better coordination between the three forces, efficient combat capability and dealing with future security challenges.
