The Punjab government has increased VAT on petrol and diesel by Re 1. The increased prices have come into effect from 12 midnight on Saturday. Now petrol will cost Rs 98.65 per liter and diesel will cost Rs 88.95 per liter in Punjab.
According to sources, this decision was approved in the cabinet meeting held in Mansa on Friday. However, no information was given by the government in this regard. Its notification was issued secretly late night. Earlier, the Channi government of Congress had reduced VAT on petrol and diesel.
