The bet is not a coincidence. More and more drivers are looking to combine daily driving with weekend getaways, in a vehicle that serves both to transport the family and to sleep under the stars. That dual function is the basis on which Chrysler designed the Grizzly Peak, a concept that blends comfort, space and off-road equipment.
Presented at the Overland Expo Mountain West, held from August 22 to 24, the prototype seeks to take the pulse of an audience that values ??both the flexibility and independence offered by the so-called van life.
A prototype with the brand's seal
The Pacifica Grizzly Peak is based on Chrysler's four decades of leadership in the minivan segment, combined with a century of engineering experience.
The result is a vehicle that does not intend to replace classic off-roaders, but rather to open a different option for those who want to travel without limits.
Chris Feuell, executive director of the Chrysler brand, summarized the idea behind the project: "We have been following van life for years and we know that adventurers greatly value the versatility offered by the Pacifica. Our Chrysler design studio hit the nail on the head with the commissioned and was completely dedicated to it.”
“They raised the suspension, added useful and functional features such as a roof-mounted Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform roof rack, TYRI LED lighting and an ARB retractable awning, and adapted the sleeping cabin to create this Pacifica Grizzly Peak prototype as a test bed. “We’re excited to hear feedback from van-life adventurers on our newest prototype of the most awarded minivan in history,” he added.
One of the key changes inside was the removal of the third row of seats, replacing it with a flat cargo panel. This allows the space to be configured as a resting area or for storing gear, which is key for long trips.
Exterior Details: Ready to Go Off-Road
The exterior design reinforces the idea of ????toughness. The Grizzly Peak features matte Arktos paint, Foreshadow accents, and a suspension raised compared to the standard Pacifica Limited AWD model: 2.75 inches in the front and 2.5 inches in the rear.
The package is completed with 31-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires mounted on 18-inch wheels, Baja Designs LED foglights, and Mopar fender flares that protect the sides. A Rhino-Rack Pioneer roof rack A roof-mounted platform, along with an ARB retractable awning and TYRI auxiliary lights, complete the concept's adventurous look.
These elements are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional: they allow for the loading of bicycles, kayaks or travel boxes, and provide lighting and shade for improvised camps.
Functional and adaptable interior
Behind the doors, the Pacifica Grizzly Peak retains the comfort level of the Limited model, but incorporates solutions geared towards camping and outdoor living.
A flat rear floor replaces the third row and allows for the placement of mattresses or cargo modules. Additional tie-downs and access to a 115-volt/450-watt power outlet have also been added, useful for connecting equipment en route.
The cabin is distinguished by a Cement Gray hue with Liquid Titanium accents on the dashboard and panels, Katzkin leather seats, orange seatbelts and a perforated sport steering wheel with paddle shifters. change.
Chrysler also included practical accessories such as Mopar all-weather floor mats, stackable bags, a first aid kit, and a compact spare tire.
Together, these features make the Grizzly Peak a minivan with performance close to an RV, while maintaining the maneuverability of a family car.
Chrysler, between tradition and future
The launch of this prototype coincides with a symbolic moment for the brand. In 2025, Chrysler celebrates its centennial, remembering the legacy of Walter P. Chrysler and his commitment to democratizing automotive innovation.
The company plans to use that anniversary to show off a new generation of products: a refreshed Pacifica in 2026, an additional crossover soon after, and a third model inspired by the Halcyon concept.
Meanwhile, the current Pacifica remains the most awarded minivan in U.S. history. Its plug-in hybrid version achieves 82 MPGe, with an electric range of 32 miles and a total range of 525 miles, and is the only one in its class with available all-wheel drive.
Meanwhile, Chrysler will celebrate 20 years of the Stow 'n Go system in 2025 and will bring back the Chrysler Voyager, designed for families looking for a more economical model.
