Was the next BMW i4 electric leaked? This surprised
Although it could be a simple conceptual model, its realistic lines suggest that we are looking at a preview of the next generation of this sedan
In times of social media, every detail counts. An image, a teaser, or even a simple oversight can spark the curiosity of thousands of enthusiasts. That is precisely what happened recently with BMW, when the brand itself published a video showing an electric sedan that does not correspond to any model presented so far.

The context: the Neue Klasse era
BMW is in the midst of transforming its range. Since the presentation of its aesthetic and technological philosophy called Neue Klasse, each updated model adopts features of this new design language. The first to receive it has been the renewed iX3, but it will soon be extended to other segments of the brand.
It is known that the next major launch will be the BMW i3, a fully electric version of the 3 Series. However, beyond that model, the calendar becomes uncertain.
Rumors speak of future iX1 and iX5, as well as electrified variants for the 1 and 4 series. On this last point, the possibility arises that the sedan shown in the video corresponds to none other than the future i4.
A video that changed everything
The material appeared on the German page dedicated to the new iX3. It was intended to highlight the brand's technological capabilities, especially in relation to autonomous driving and safety assistants.
However, among the images appeared an unknown car, modern-looking and surprisingly realistic.
Although it could be a simple render without commercial purposes, its level of detail suggested that BMW was showing more than it intended. It's hard to imagine the company going to the trouble of designing an entire car just to illustrate technologies, without any future intentions behind it.
The design: clear signs
The vehicle in question features several key elements of BMW DNA. First, the characteristic front "kidneys" appear in a more horizontal and restrained version than on other Neue Klasse models. Added to this are very thin optics, reduced practically to lines of light, both at the front and rear.
The rearview mirrors maintain a classic format with conventional mirrors, something uncommon in prototypes that usually opt for cameras. Furthermore, the door handles are perfectly integrated into the bodywork, in line with what is expected of the next premium electric cars.
All of this creates the feeling that this is not a simple digital exercise, but a conceptual design that could lead to a real production model.
Concept or intentional leak
We must not forget that BMW has used very careful communication strategies in the past to maintain expectations around its launches. This raises the question: Was it an oversight or an intentional leak?
What does seem clear is that the car in the video does not correspond to the future i3, since that model has already been officially presented. Therefore, the most logical candidate is the next BMW i4, an electric sedan that plays a key role in the company's electric offensive.
The role of the i4 in the BMW range
The i4 is not just any model within the BMW catalog. It represents the 4 Series' transition to full electrification, with a design that seeks to compete directly with other premium electric sedans, such as the Tesla Model 3 or the Polestar 2.
In its current version, the i4 already offers power outputs of up to 536 horsepower in the M50 variant, along with ranges that exceed 300 miles according to the EPA cycle. The expectation for the next generation is that BMW will be able to expand those numbers and, above all, optimize efficiency and fast charging, areas in which the competition is setting the pace.
With prices currently starting at around $52,000, the i4 has managed to establish itself as a solid option in the premium electric sedan market. A update under the Neue Klasse aesthetic would further strengthen its appeal.
