FDA Announces Recall of Pet Foods That May Cause Nutritional Deficiencies
According to the health entity, the pet food contained very low levels of thiamine, an essential nutrient for dogs and cats.
This week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of pet foods manufactured by GO Raw LLC for life-threatening nutritional deficiencies in dogs and cats.
According to the health entity's statement, freeze-dried and frozen raw foods contained very low levels of thiamine (vitamin B1) necessary for the neurological, digestive and metabolic function of pets, so a deficiency of this nutrient, especially in cats, could even cause seizures.
The FDA report details the recalled foods with their expiration dates, which were distributed in retail stores in at least 21 states in the country:
1.25 pound bags of Steve’s Real Food Freeze Dried Chicken Recipe with lot code C26022, UPC 6-91730-164 02-7 and best before date 01/22/2028.
