Immigration raids favor wage theft in Southern California, according to advocates
Undocumented farmworkers are victims of wage theft, labor advocacy groups warned; farmworkers are afraid to report it to the authorities
Operations by federal immigration agencies favor wage theft from farmworkers in Southern California, especially undocumented workers, as many avoid taking risks by demanding fair pay, labor advocates said.
Some employers may be taking advantage of the ongoing immigration crisis to evade their responsibility to pay workers a fair wage, warned immigrant labor advocacy groups.
Among the cases identified by worker advocates are day laborers who go to Home Depot parking lots hoping to find construction work with fair pay.
