Payments for the Apple lawsuit are going directly to the bank accounts of affected customers
Affected users are receiving direct deposits to their bank accounts with amounts ranging from $8 to $40
Since last Saturday, many Apple customers and users have reported that the company is sending them direct deposits to their bank accounts with amounts ranging from $8 to $40.
The payments are part of an approximately $95 million settlement that the multinational technology company headquartered in California had to pay after the wave of accusations in against them, where customers alleged that the voice assistant “Siri” was spying on them.
The claims were filed by users in mid-May and early July of last year, and according to the affected customers, several Apple devices with this system were listening to confidential conversations, violating their security and privacy.
The lawsuit also alleges that the company shared these conversations with other companies, such as clothing brands and restaurants, which then displayed ads and advertising in the Safari web browser and Apple Search.
Although the company, considered one of the largest in the technology sector, denied the accusations, stating that it did not commit any improper or illegal actions against its users, it ultimately agreed to the settlement.
In this regard, users who filed their claims with their bank information are receiving deposits with the subject line: “Lopez Voice Assistant” or “Lopez Voice Asst—Payments”.
According to details of the agreement, the devices that qualified for the claim were: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch, and Apple TV, each with a reward limit of $20.
