Walmart announced a new price reduction on thousands of daily consumer products and seasonal items in the United States. The measure will benefit both customers of its retail stores and Sam's Club. Through a statement, Walmart reported this Monday that the discounts have already begun to be applied in its physical stores, digital platforms and mobile applications. The sales include food, drinks, household items and products for summer activities, such as grills, sunscreen and lawnmowers.

“Customers trust Walmart to get the value they need every day, and summer is no exception,” Julie Barber, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Walmart United States, said in the statement. “We are investing significantly to reduce prices on the items customers purchase most frequently.”

Following the announcement, President Donald Trump published a message on Truth Social in which he celebrated Walmart's business strategy and stated that the company responded to a request from his government.

“I have just been informed that one of the biggest, best and smartest retailers in the United States, Walmart, will significantly lower prices at the request of my administration to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great country,” the president wrote on his social network.

In his same text, the president highlighted that the price reduction was a sign that his administration is fulfilling its promise to reduce the cost of living.

“Walmart is stepping forward forcefully and decisively, and other retailers should follow the example of these patriots,” Trump said.

So far, Walmart has not confirmed the president's statements. In the official statement where he announced the reductions, he made no reference to the White House.
