A 67-year-old woman arrested in Miami-Dade for attacking her nephews with a machete
Maria Sanchez, 67, was arrested after a violent family argument in which she injured two of her nephews
A woman was arrested in Miami-Dade after attacking her two nephews with a machete during a domestic argument, according to local police.
The incident occurred around 9:46 p.m. on October 13, in a home located near SW 197 Terrace and 123 Court, in the southwest of the county.
According to the arrest report, officers responded after receiving calls alerting them of an armed person inside the home.
The claim that turned violent
When officers arrived at the scene, they found one of the victims, the niece of the alleged aggressor, who said that the dispute began when Maria Sanchez, 67, returned from the hospital and reproached her relatives for not having done the housework.
According to the police report, the woman became enraged and took a machete from her room, with which she attacked her nephew, causing minor injuries to his body.
Then, she attacked her niece, causing an injury to her right thigh before being arrested by the police.
Video captured the attack
Authorities confirmed that one of the victims provided surveillance video showing Sanchez brandishing the machete at her family members, which was incorporated into the investigation.
The woman was transferred to the TGK Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, where she remains detained without bail.
According to court records, she faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the context of domestic violence.
