A sex offender is arrested in the same house where Cleveland police found a woman's body days before
Matthew Hensley was seen by police hiding in a closet of the house where the body of a woman reported missing was found.
Ohio authorities arrested a man at the same home where the body of a Tennessee woman was found last week.
According to authorities, Matthew Hensley, 44, was seen by police hiding in a closet near a window at the home on Bosworth Road.
A neighbor recorded Hensley's arrest on his cell phone. The video shows Hensley barefoot and scantily clad, walking arm in arm with SWAT team officers.
Hensley was wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department for failing to register his home after being convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
He also had additional charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor stemming from a 2022 indictment.
“He was wanted for failure to register and also for having unlawful contact with a minor, so the sooner we get him off the streets the better,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
Authorities searched for him for months. After receiving numerous tips, deputies staked out the house on Thursday night and entered on Friday morning.
“One of our investigators had a feeling that he probably had a hiding place in that house, and sure enough, when we arrived, he was hidden behind this wall,” Elliott said.
The discovery of the missing woman
Last week, Cleveland police found the body of a woman in the backyard of the same home. Hensley has not been charged in connection with her death.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as 37-year-old Amber Graham.
A friend of Graham's said in a previous interview that the 37-year-old woman had taken her 8-year-old daughter on a trip to meet a man she had been communicating with online.
Graham's 8-year-old daughter showed up alone at a Cleveland fire station and is safe in the custody of Child Protective Services.
"I saw her walking to the store, I think it was when she first came in. I saw the truck with plates from another state," Robert Bercar told News 5 Cleveland.
Bercar lives next door to the house where Graham's body was found.
Cleveland police call logs show reports that the girl's mother was being held by Matthew Hensley.
Cleveland police said they are awaiting the medical examiner's ruling on Graham's death regarding a possible criminal investigation.
