Nurse tried to steal a newborn from a bag in Brazil and was caught on hospital cameras
The woman informed the mother that she would take the baby for routine examinations, but in reality she intended to steal the minor from the hospital.
A nursing technician was arrested in Brazil after allegedly trying to remove a newborn baby hidden inside a bag from a maternity hospital in the city of Teresina, but the quick intervention of the minor's aunt prevented the kidnapping from being carried out.
The incident occurred at the Dona Evangelina Rosa maternity hospital and was recorded by the medical center's security cameras.
In the images you can see the worker entering the maternity area and, minutes later, leaving with the newborn in her arms.
According to the testimony of family members, the woman informed the mother that she would take the baby for routine examinations, including the heel test. However, the newborn's aunt decided to stay near the place because she found the procedure unusual.
Shortly after, he observed that the nurse left the area without the baby in her arms, but carrying a large black bag and wearing different clothes than the one she was wearing when she entered. Suspicion, he followed her and intercepted her before she left the facilities.
When he checked the bag, he found the newborn inside, so he notified the hospital staff and the authorities. The woman was immediately arrested and the baby was returned safely to her family.
The Brazilian authorities opened an investigation to clarify the case and determine the crimes that could be attributed to the health worker.
According to local media, the suspect had faked a pregnancy in front of family and acquaintances, and even had her home prepared to receive a baby, a line that is also part of the investigations.
The case generated widespread commotion in Brazil and revived the debate about safety protocols in hospital maternity areas, especially in relation to the identification of staff and controls for the transfer of newborns within the facilities.
