The star of “Emilia Perez” spoke out once again about the controversy that arose after being excluded from the Academy
Criticism towards the actress Karla Sofia Gascon does not let up, especially after it was announced that the Hollywood Academy excluded her from the list of new members, despite her nomination for the Oscar for Best Actress, for her role in the film "Emilia Pérez".
Regarding the wave of attacks she has received through social media, the Spaniard has taken it upon herself to issue a message in which she called for an end to the transphobia of which she has been the target and called for respect towards her person.
Gascón began her post on Instagram reiterating that she respects the decision of the Academy and has not ruled out one day belonging to the renowned institution: "If one day they decide to invite me, I will accept with all the honor, affection and love of my heart," she explained on her official profile.
Likewise, she recalled the controversy that hit her at the beginning of 2025, when several old tweets resurfaced in which the famous woman made strong criticisms of minorities.
In this regard, she indicated that: "No one has legally proven that I am the most terrible threat in the world that must be destroyed at all costs. Go ahead, take out the 20,000 messages that I have written, not just the four chosen and edited, and show that what you interpret With malice, it is the truth, not a lie.” Karla Sofía Gascón ended her statement by urging internet users to stop perpetuating accusations against her: “So please, stop this madness. You have already caused enough unnecessary harm. Stop the transphobia,” she declared.
As a result of this feat, her digital community left her dozens of comments in which they showed their support: “No one deserves to be judged by distorted versions of reality. Strength and light to you,” wrote one user. Another replied: “It is easy to point the finger, but it is difficult to understand the whole. Superficial judgments do not build anything. It is important to give space for all sides to express themselves. May justice, empathy, and respect always be present.”
