In the murder case of former Bigg Boss contestant and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phogat, the CBI recently searched the rooms of Hotel Grand Leoni Resort in Goa where Sonali stayed with her two companions. At the same time, two of the five accused arrested in this case were granted bail by a special court in Goa on Monday. Drug trafficking accused Ramchandra Mandrekar and Dattaprasad Gaonkar were granted bail by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court in Mapusa Nagar.
Edwin Nunis, owner of Curlies restaurant, has also got bail
Earlier, the same court had granted bail to Edwin Nunis, the owner of Curlies restaurant. Curlies is the restaurant where Sonali Phogat had a party a few hours before her death. Sonali (43) was brought dead on August 23 at a private hospital in Anjuna. Police had said that Phogat was given a narcotic along with water. Two of Phogat's associates, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, were arrested for the murder.
CBI is investigating the case
Recently, the investigation of this case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A CBI team is currently in the state. Officials said the team visited the hotel where Sonali Phogat was staying. The team also visited the partially demolished Curlies restaurant where Sonali Phogat had a party.
