Blake Lively faces a new obstacle as closing her legal battle against Justin Baldoni
Although the protagonists of “It Ends With Us” agreed to avoid the jury trial, the actress is still seeking the actor to cover the fees of her lawyers
The long media legal confrontation between the protagonists of “It Ends With Us”, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, has encountered a new unexpected obstacle.
Although both actors recently reached an agreement to avoid a jury trial, a final disagreement on the payment of the s legal fees keeps the process active, and the judge's most recent decision has delivered a setback to Lively's strategy.
This week, the magistrate in charge of the case formally denied the request from the actress's legal team, which intended to introduce additional documentation before the final resolution.
The judge was clear in declaring that he does not consider it necessary to receive more evidence from either party, closing the door on Lively strengthen her arguments so that Baldoni assume the costs of her defense.
An agreement with a bittersweet flavor
The conflict, which began with accusations of sexual harassment and smear campaigns, has deflated in the courts after the agreement signed on 4 May.
Although the specific terms are kept under strict reservation, it is known that the agreement did not include millionaire financial compensation and that both actors waived their right to appeal.
However, Lively insists on recovering the millions of dollars invested in lawyers after 16 months of litigation.
For its part, the Baldoni team, led by attorney Bryan Freedman, has qualified the outcome as a “total victory”, especially after the court previously dismissed the more serious accusations due to lack of technical evidence.
