Liam Gallagher celebrates England's victory against Mexico in the 2026 World Cup
The vocalist of "Oasis" reacted to the elimination of the Mexican team after their match with England and called the fans "childish"
Liam Gallagher, vocalist of Oasis who days before caused controversy by predicting a win over Mexico in their match against England, returned to social networks with a message in which he celebrated his team's victory and made the occasional comment about the Tri fans.
“It's hard work singing 'Harry Kane, come on England, come on Wonderwall,'” the British musician wrote after seeing his team emerge victorious with a 3-2 score against Mexico.
These words only sparked a heated debate on social networks in which some Internet users agreed with him and others regretted his attitude regarding the victory.
Hours later, Liam Gallagher launched a new attack on the Mexican fans after watching a video of the match in which part of the public at the Mexico City Stadium was heard booing one of Oasis' biggest hits, “Wonderwall.”
The famous person responded to the message of the user who attached the images, describing this reaction as a “childish attitude” on the part of Mexican fans. This only added fuel to the fire of the dispute on social networks between both fans, one that began before the round of 16 match, when the singer published in X that England would “beat” Mexico 5-0.
At that time, the artist tried to smooth over the rough edges by assuring that: “Every time I have gone to Mexico, the people have been lovely” and even modified his prediction to a 3-0 in favor of England. However, given the negative response from Internet users, he joked that Mexico might not have Oasis concerts again if England lost in the match.
Fher Olvera comes out in defense of Mexico… again
Another of the names that gained relevance after the sporting event was that of Maná's vocalist, Fher Olvera, who sent a second message to Liam Gallagher in which he mocked his initial prediction.
"Isn't it 5-0, wow? Five more minutes and we'll make them ointment. I respect Mexico, in good spirits," Fher said through a video on social networks that was replicated by thousands of users.
The singer ended his audiovisual by acknowledging the work of the Mexican team despite the result: "That's life, whoever scores a goal wins. Great. Congratulations, Mexico," he reiterated from the official Maná platforms.
