Four days after the double earthquake that devastated the north-central zone of Venezuela, causing the collapse of several buildings, the actress and comedian Gaby Fleritt was found among the fatal victims. Relatives confirmed her death, along with that of her daughter and a grandson who were with her.

The artist's body was located under the rubble of Residencias Las Palmas, one of the structures that collapsed in La Guaira, the state most affected by the 7.1 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes. Both earthquakes occurred in less than a minute, which gave thousands of Venezuelans no opportunity to shelter.

Eduardo Fleritt, nephew of the actress, issued a statement on his Instagram account to confirm that Gabriela Fleritt, Andrea Laya and Mariano Ferrera did not survive.

“We want to express our most sincere gratitude to all the people who accompanied us during this tireless search: to those who shared publications, spread the information, offered a prayer and gave us words of support and hope,” reads part of the text.

Who was the actress Gaby Fleritt

Known in the artistic world as 'La Gorda Fleury', Gaby Fleritt was a Venezuelan actress, comedian and announcer who became famous for her participation in joke and sketch programs in the 90s. Among them 'Bienvenidos', 'Cheverísimo' and 'A que te Ries'.

In the sketch, which only lasted a few seconds, Koke and Gaby were a couple who had been married for several years. The joke began with a question or comment and culminated with the other's response, usually sarcastic, as a way of staging relationships.

In addition to comedy programs, Gaby Fleritt also participated in several soap operas on the Venevisión network. Some are: 'Paper Love' (1993), 'Love drives them crazy' (2005), 'Los querendones' (2006), 'Urban love' (2009) and 'Natalia del Mar' (2011).

The beloved actress was also in national and international plays, even visiting important cities in the United States, such as New York and Los Angeles. Gaby Fleritt died at the age of 55 and mourns the Venezuelan entertainment world.
