Homicide suspect died while allegedly trying to hide his partner's body in Alabama
A 47-year-old woman died from strangulation in Alabama. Investigators believe his partner was trying to move his body when he suffered a heart attack
Alabama authorities are investigating the death of a 47-year-old woman whose body was found next to that of her partner in a wooded area of Chambers County.
An autopsy determined that Jessica Folds died of strangulation, while investigators believe that Daniel Robbins, 44, died of a heart attack while allegedly trying to move the body.
Both were found on June 10 in a rural area near Lanett, according to WTVM.
Investigation points to an alleged case of domestic violence
According to authorities, agents responded to the scene after a person reported an abandoned truck on the side of a dirt road.
According to District Attorney Mike Segrest, the vehicle remained running, with the driver's door open and the tailgate extended.
Investigators followed visible marks in the ground that led to an area of vegetation where the bodies were.
County Sheriff Jeff Nelson said Folds was found with her hands over her head and Robbins was nearby in the fetal position.
Authorities suspect the woman was murdered during a domestic violence incident that occurred the night before.
Authorities believe the suspect died while moving the body
According to prosecutor Segrest, the preliminary investigation indicates that Robbins would have tried to dispose of the body before suffering a heart attack.
Until now, the exact location where the homicide occurred has not been reported.
Relatives cited in the report noted that Robbins had a history of heart problems, although authorities have not confirmed whether that condition directly contributed to his death.
Folds lived a few kilometers from the place where she was found.
According to the report, he leaves behind three adult children and two grandchildren.
Authorities have not reported a possible motive or announced the closure of the investigation.
The case remains open while efforts continue to reconstruct what happened.
