The Mexican actor will portray his battle against coronavirus and double kidney transplant on the big screen. This is what we know so far
Five years after undergoing a double kidney transplant due to complications from his Covid-19 infection, actor Tono Mauri has decided to turn this difficult chapter of his life into a piece that inspires his audience.
Determined to start 2026 off on the right foot, the celebrity would be expanding the impact of his story beyond his book "My New Life". His son, Antonio Mauri, confirmed the development of a film production in which the renowned actor will play himself. The news was revealed in an interview with the program "Ventaneando," where Tono Mauri Jr. explained that although they are in the first stage of pre-production, everything is going smoothly. "The plot is turning out incredibly well, the team is doing a great job," explained the eldest son of the television star. "It's been wonderful to be able to talk to the doctors and the people. That's the beauty of cinema, being able to experience the stories and connect them in this way," he added. According to the details revealed, the film will also portray how the family lived through those agonizing months when Tono Mauri was fighting for his life. Regarding the decision to star in his own story, even though it might stir up negative emotions, the actor's eldest son stated that it sends a powerful message: "I applaud him for saying he's going to do it. Who better than him, who was there and lived through it? It's going to give it an impressive realism," he indicated. Antonio Mauri concluded his talk with the press by thanking everyone for the support his father and family have received: "When I was a year or two old, I started seeing a psychologist and then a Catholic psychologist, both very good. The most important thing was the support of the family, their faith, and the support of the fact that "God guides you, heals you, and gives meaning to suffering," she emphasized.
