AIIMS-Delhi server down for sixth day, hackers demand Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency
Due to hacking, the data of about 3-4 crore patients can be affected.
The server of All India Institute of Medical Sciences ( AIIMS ) remained down for the sixth day today. A big news related to this is coming out that hackers have also demanded money.

News is coming that hackers have allegedly demanded around Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency from Delhi-AIIMS. The news of server hacking first came on Wednesday morning. After that it could not be rectified even for the sixth consecutive day. Meanwhile, NIC e-hospital database and application server for e-hospital have been restored. The National Informatics Center (NIC) team is scanning and cleaning the infections from other e-hospital servers located at AIIMS, which are essential for delivery of hospital services. Four servers arranged for restoration of e-hospital services have been scanned and made ready for database and application.
Data of 3-4 crore patients at risk of being affected by hacking
It is feared that the data of about 3-4 crore patients may be affected due to hacking. AIIMS servers store data of many very important persons (VIPs), including former prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats and judges. Here, due to server down, in-patient care services, out-patients, admitted patients and laboratory sections in the emergency unit are being managed paper-wise.
Case of extortion and cyber terrorism registered, Delhi Police engaged in investigation
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Delhi Police and representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs are investigating the ransomware attack. Due to a ransomware attack, access to the computer is disrupted and hackers demand money to give access. A case of extortion and cyber terrorism was registered on November 25 by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police. Official sources said that on the recommendations of the investigating agencies, internet services have been stopped on the computers in the hospital.

The work to make AIIMS network virus free is going on. Anti-virus solutions are provided for the servers and computers. It is installed on about 1200 out of 5000 computers. It is being told that 20 out of 50 servers have been scanned. There are reports that the work to restore the network is likely to continue for five more days. Thereafter, the e-hospital services can be started in a phased manner. Patient care services including services such as emergency, out-patient, in-patient, laboratory are being handled hand in hand.
