The BJP's strategy of changing the Chief Minister just before the assembly elections has shown its colors in Gujarat. To pacify the anti-incumbency wave that had arisen among the public, the BJP, as an experiment, changed the Chief Minister in Uttarakhand just before the assembly elections of five states to be held earlier this year. Tirath Singh Rawat was removed from his post and Pushkar Singh Dhami was made the chief minister. BJP adopted a similar strategy in Gujarat as well and today its result is visible in front of everyone and BJP has won a landslide victory by breaking all the previous records. There is also news that this strategy has been worked out to win the 2023 assembly elections. For this he has already done this experiment in Karnataka and Tripura.
By changing the CM, the anti-incumbency wave was pacified
If political analysts and media reports are to be believed, the BJP had already prepared its strategy to win the Gujarat assembly elections. In September last year, the BJP made Bhupendra Patel, a first-time MLA, the chief minister of Gujarat in place of Vijay Rupani just a year before the Gujarat elections. Not only this, at that time the BJP not only changed the Chief Minister, but also changed the entire Gujarat cabinet. A senior BJP leader at the national level said during a media interaction that the result is clear that the change of chief minister in Uttarakhand and Gujarat helped the BJP neutralize the anti-incumbency wave. In Gujarat, the caste of the Chief Minister (Patidar) also worked.
BJP leadership took a decision on the ground-level feedback
According to media reports, the opposition has often been attacking the BJP for changing the chief minister. However, political analysts believe that these changes show that the BJP leadership never shies away from taking decisions according to the feedback received from the grassroots. Similarly, in Uttarakhand, the BJP changed chief ministers twice before the assembly elections held earlier this year. The party won the election, but Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had to face defeat. Despite this, he was made the Chief Minister of the hill state. This BJP leader raised the question why the same exercise was not done in Himachal Pradesh, when the party had to face defeat in the by-elections last year.
BJP has also changed CM in Karnataka and Tripura
Let us tell that BJP's national president JP Nadda himself belongs to Himachal Pradesh and he campaigned fiercely there during the assembly elections. The surprising thing is that National President JP Nadda did not get the right feedback about the Chief Minister from his own state. Another senior BJP leader said that there have been mainly three factors behind these decisions to change chief ministers in the last two-three years. These include the impact of grassroots work, cohesion with the organization and popularity of the leader. Assembly elections are also to be held in BJP-ruled Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura during 2023. The BJP has changed its chief ministers in Karnataka and recently in Tripura.
