Bihar Maoist case: NIA filed supplementary charge sheet against one more person, case was registered in 2022

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against a person in a case related to Maoist activities in Bihar. An official gave this information on Saturday.
A chargesheet was filed in a special court on Friday against Rupesh Kumar Singh alias Raman alias Journalist under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the officer said.
The case pertains to activities by members and leaders of the banned terrorist organization CPI (Maoist) related to levy collection, recruitment of cadre and 'revival of the CPI (Maoist) movement' in the area.
An agency spokesperson said, this supplementary chargesheet stems from the raid conducted by Rohtas Police at the residence of Umesh Chaudhary in Samhuta village of Bihar. The operation yielded disturbing information about the presence of active members and leaders of CPI (Maoist) in the surrounding area.
He said, 'The primary objective of these CPI (Maoist) leaders and members was to collect levies, recruit new cadre and revive the CPI (Maoist) movement. The operation resulted in the arrest of CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member Vijay Kumar Arya and another cadre Umesh Chaudhary.'
Maoist-related pamphlets, levy receipts and electronic devices containing objectionable data have been recovered from the arrested people, the official said. The case was registered at Rohtas police station in Bihar on April 12 last year and was re-registered by the NIA 14 days later. The NIA had filed chargesheet and supplementary chargesheet against four accused on November 7 and 18 last year and January 21 this year.
The spokesperson said that investigation revealed that Rupesh Kumar Singh was not only an active cadre of CPI (Maoist), but he was also holding the post of member of the Special Area Committee. He further said that Singh was also the chief editor of 'Lal Chingari' magazine of the banned organization. The officer claimed that Singh himself had supplied soft copies of the magazine to top CPI (Maoist) commanders in various states.
