The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided 33 places, including the premises of former JKSSB chairman Khalid Jehangir, over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of sub-inspectors in Jammu and Kashmir. The officers provided this information. He said that raids are also being conducted on the premises of the examination controller of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) Ashok Kumar.

The raids are being conducted in Jammu, Srinagar, Karnal in Haryana, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Delhi, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Bengaluru in Karnataka. According to officials, the second round of raids is being conducted by the CBI in connection with the investigation of alleged irregularities in the recruitment of sub-inspector.

The CBI, after registering the FIR on August 5, had said, "The Central Bureau of Investigation, on allegations of irregularities in the written examination held on March 27, 2022, for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in Jammu and Kashmir Police, on the request of the Jammu and Kashmir Administration A case has been registered against the accused. The results were declared on June 4 this year, following which allegations of malpractices came to the fore. The Jammu and Kashmir administration had constituted a committee to investigate the allegations.

It is worth mentioning that for 1200 posts of JKSSB, more than 95 thousand candidates had given the exam. As soon as the results came, some candidates had raised questions on the marks they got. After which there was a demand for its investigation across the country including Jammu and Kashmir. Here, a committee was constituted by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to investigate the recruitment scam, which included Home Secretary RK Goel, Law Department Secretary Achal Sethi and General Administration Department Secretary Manoj Dwidedi.
