Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University has issued a directive not to gather in and around the college campus. The university has said in a notice that Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC in Okhla area. In such a situation, do not gather a crowd together.
In a notice, the chief spokesperson of the university said that the police officer of Jamia Nagar police station has given this information to him. The proctor said that this ban has been imposed from September 19. Police say that the department has received news that some people group may make plans to disturb the peace.
The ban will remain till November 17: The police department has said that in order to avoid any untoward incident in the festive season, the police has implemented a ban in the entire Okhla area till November 17. Police has also said that paramilitary personnel have also been called to maintain law and order.
What is the provision of Section 144 of CrPC: Police has banned the entire Okhla under Section 144 of CrPC. Under this, four or more than four people cannot gather together in a restricted area. There is also a provision of punishment for violating this order.
Appeal of Jamia Millia University: After this move of the administration, a notice has also been issued on behalf of Jamia Millia Islamia, appealing that students, teaching and non-teaching staff should not gather together. Do not be a part of any kind of rally, march, agitation or dharna.
