The Election Commission has issued a media guideline regarding the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat assembly elections. The Election Commission has banned the broadcast of exit polls on 12 November and 5 December. Violating this order can be costly.
Ban on exit polls between 8 am on 12 November and 5:30 pm on 5 December
Issuing notification, the Election Commission said, "Publication of exit poll results in respect of Himachal Pradesh Elections and Gujarat Elections 2022 during the period between 8 am on 12-11-2022 and 5.30 pm on 05-12-2022" or Promotion will be prohibited. During this time, print and electronic media will not be able to show the likely results of the elections through exit polls. The Election Commission said, action will be taken against those who violate it.
Himachal Pradesh assembly elections on 12 November
Voting for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections is to be held on November 12. The entire Himachal election will be conducted in one phase. Whereas the election results will come on 8 December. A total of 7881 polling stations have been set up in Himachal Pradesh. There are a total of 68 assembly seats in Himachal, on which voting is to be held on November 12.
Polling in two phases in Gujarat
The Election Commission has decided to conduct the Gujarat Assembly elections in two phases. Polling for the first phase will be conducted in the state on November 1. Whereas on November 5, the second phase of polling will be held. The results of the Gujarat assembly elections will come on December 8 along with Himachal Pradesh.
