Farmers movement: Northern Railway canceled 177 trains operating towards Punjab, Haryana and Himachal
On Thursday also, 19 organizations of farmers had stopped the movement of trains by staging a sit-in on the railway tracks at 17 places across the state.

The Rail Roko agitation of farmers in Punjab continued for the second day on Friday. Thousands of passengers are troubled due to the demonstration. For this reason, Northern Railway issued orders to cancel 177 trains operating towards Punjab, Haryana and Himachal. This also included 85 trains originating from Ambala division. At the same time, Railways canceled 59 trains midway and started them again. Similarly, 27 trains were sent to the destination station by running an alternate route. Ambala Chandigarh National Highway was also affected.
In the border area of Ambala Punjab, farmers sat on the Ambala Chandigarh road towards Punjab. Due to which people had to remain stuck in the traffic jam for hours after 10 am. After this, traffic had to be diverted in Ambala also to send people through alternative routes.
Ambala Division Senior Commercial Manager Naveen Kumar said that the announcement system is being used continuously to ensure that passengers do not face problems due to cancellation of trains. At the same time, instructions have been given to the station master including the superintendent and commercial employees to help the passengers so that they do not have to face any kind of problem.
On Friday, the second day of the agitation, 16 trains originating from Ambala Cantt station were canceled and 10 trains were diverted. These include train numbers 12053 Haridwar-Amritsar, 04689 Ambala-Jalandhar, 04690 Jalandhar-Ambala, 14503 Kalka-Katra, 22462 Katra-New Delhi, 14609 Rishikesh-Katra, 12446 Katra-New Delhi, 14034 Katra-New Delhi, 12413 and 14 Ajmer. -Jammu Tawi-Ajmer, 18238 Amritsar-Bilaspur, 14631 and 32 Dehradun-Amritsar-Dehradun, 12379 Sealdah-Amritsar, 12237 and 38 Varanasi-Jammu Tawi-Varanasi Express were included. Whereas 12440 Sriganganagar-Nanded, 14662 Jammutawi-Barmer, 13152 Jammutawi-Kolkata, 11078 Jammutawi-Puna, 18310 Jammutawi-Bilaspur, 14611 Ghazipur-Katra, 15654 Jammutawi-Guwahati, 12919 Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction-Katra, 12 471 Bandra-Katra, 18310 Jammu Tawi-Sambhalpur was operated via alternate route.
Train No. 22429 Delhi-Pathankot was canceled at Ludhiana station. Similarly, 14617 Banmankhi-Amritsar Janseva Express and 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar were canceled at Ambala station. Whereas on 30 September and 1 October, 12 trains have been completely cancelled. Whereas 2 trains have been canceled at Ludhiana, 15 trains have been operated midway and 3 trains have been decided to run through alternative routes.

Train No. 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi, 12054 Amritsar-Haridwar, 14682 Jalandhar-New Delhi, 14504 Katra-Kalka, 14610 Katra-Rishikesh, 12266 Jammutavi-Delhi, 14036 Pathankot-Delhi, 22439 and 40 New Delhi-Katra-New Delhi Vande. Bharat Express, 14615 and 16 Lalkuan-Amritsar-Lalkuan Express will remain canceled today. Whereas on 1st October, 12380 Amritsar-Sealdah will not operate.
Canceled midway
Train No. 12029 New Delhi-Amritsar and 12497 New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express will be canceled at Ludhiana station on Saturday.
Midway driven
On September 30, train numbers 11058 Amritsar-Mumbai, 14618 Amritsar-Banmankhi, 14650 Amritsar-Jaynagar, 12716 Amritsar-Nanded, 13308 Firozpur-Dhanbad will be operated from Ambala Cantt station. Similarly, 22430 Pathankot-Delhi, 12014 Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi, 12904 Amritsar-Mumbai, 13006 Amritsar-Howrah, 15708 Amritsar-Katihar, 12030 Amritsar-New Delhi and 12498 Amritsar-New Delhi operate from Ludhiana, 15212 Amritsar-Darbhanga. Dhandhari Kalan, 12926 Amritsar-Mumbai to Chandigarh and 12204 Amritsar-Saharsa will be operated from New Delhi.
Diverted
Train number 12588 Jammutawi-Gorakhpur, 12920 Katra-Deen Dayal Upadhyay, 12472 Katra-Bandra will be operated on the changed route.
Impact in punjab
Due to the farmers' movement, Railway Division Firozpur has canceled 91 trains. 48 trains have been stopped at other stations. The routes of 35 trains have been changed and they have been sent to their designated cities. 180 trains have been affected and goods trains are 14 of them. Railways has made arrangements for food and drink for the passengers staying at the stations and additional ticket counters have been arranged to take refunds.
On Thursday, 56 trains had to be canceled in Firozpur railway division, while 23 trains were stopped at other stations instead of their scheduled stations. Ten trains were sent to the designated stations from other routes. Railways will have to refund those passengers who have canceled trains.
