India has built up infrastructure in the eastern Ladakh sector in response to China's build-up in its territory along the Line of Actual Control. According to information received by defense sources, India has taken this step amid reports of Chinese buildup across the Line of Actual Control. The Indian Army has built up infrastructure in the region housing over 450 tanks and over 22,000 soldiers, unlike China.

Sources said that the Indian Army's Corps of Engineers has deployed new landing craft in eastern Ladakh to counter the aggressive activities of the Chinese in the dispute point Pangong Tso Lake. Due to which India's border patrolling capabilities have increased. Along with this, soldiers and military material can be easily transported to the border. Significantly, the Landing Craft Assault can carry 35 soldiers simultaneously.     

According to information given by defense sources, the logistics for 22,000 troops and accommodation and technical storage to include about 450 A vehicles and guns have been built in the last two years. He also informed that apart from completing the ongoing projects, the Army is focused on creating permanent defense and infrastructure to improve defense preparedness in the current working season. 

Defense sources also informed about the infrastructure development being done by the Border Roads Organization on the China border. According to sources, nine tunnels are currently being built. Apart from these, 11 more tunnels are also being planned. One of the nine tunnels currently in progress includes the 2.535 km long Sela Tunnel. Once completed, it will be the tallest two-lane tunnel in the world. In addition BRO has been entrusted with the construction of one of the highest airports in India at Nyoma. It is very close to the Chinese border and will boost Indian capabilities there.

On the other hand, on Tuesday, Indian Army's Engineer-in-Chief Lt Gen Harpal Singh briefed about the permanent defenses being built along the borders. He informed that for the first time in a desert area, a 3D-printed permanent security cordon has been constructed by the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army. These defenses have been trialled with weapons ranging from small arms to the T90 tank's main gun.

Engineer-in-Chief Lt Gen Harpal Singh informed that such defenses are capable of withstanding blasts. What's more, these can be made within 36-48 hours. Can be transferred from one place to another. Along with this, a similar permanent defense has also been tested in Eastern Ladakh and found useful.
