Nripendra Mishra, who was the Chief Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, says that even when demonetization took place in 2016, PM Modi was not in favor of bringing 2000 notes, because he felt that according to daily transactions, this not right. This news has come to the fore by quoting media reports. On the other hand, the Congress has expressed displeasure with this statement of Nripendra Mishra and said that it is just an attempt to cover-up. Let us tell you that the Reserve Bank has issued a notification on last Friday and issued instructions to exclude 2000 notes from circulation.
Congress irritated by former advisor's claim
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has reacted strongly to the claim of Nripendra Mishra, former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and a senior officer. Jairam Ramesh tweeted and wrote that 'Prime Minister's former top aide is saying that the self-proclaimed Vishwaguru had opposed the 2000 note in November 2016 itself. He would further say that his advisors had pressurized him for demonetisation as well. This is nothing but a pathetic cover up attempt.
Reserve Bank had issued notification
Explain that the Reserve Bank has issued a notification to stop the circulation of 2000 notes. Under which, from May 23 to September 30, Rs 2,000 notes can be exchanged from banks. Maximum 10 notes at a time i.e. only 20 thousand rupees notes can be changed. The Reserve Bank said that the printing of two thousand notes was stopped in 2018-19 itself.
BJP leaders welcomed the notification to the Reserve Bank
BJP leaders have welcomed this notification of the Reserve Bank and they say that the general public does not have more than two thousand notes and most of the raids against corruption in recent times have found two thousand rupees as black money. More bundles of thousand notes have been recovered.
