Aritapatti village is a chain of seven barren granite hills. The distinctive landscape of rocky hills serves as a watershed and supports 72 lakes, 200 natural springs and three check dams. The hills in Aritapatti village have rich biological and historical significance with the presence of about 250 bird species, including three major raptor species - the lugger falcon, the Shaheen falcon, and the Bonelli's eagle—and wildlife such as the Indian pangolin, python, and slender loris. The site also has various megalithic structures, Tamil Brahmi inscriptions, Jain beds and 2,200-year-old rock-cut temples, giving it historical significance.
