The Enforcement Directorate on Friday arrested Abbas Ansari, the MLA son of mafia Mukhtar Ansari, after nine hours of interrogation. At around 12 o'clock in the night, he was taken for medical and taken to Motilal Nehru District Hospital (Colvin Hospital) amidst tight security. After this, he was again brought under house arrest to the ED office. So far no statement has been issued by the ED. Mafia Mukhtar Ansari was booked for money laundering in July last year. In this case, on May 20, his elder son Abbas Ansari and younger son Umar were questioned.

Recently, Abbas was once again summoned by the ED. Abbas reached the ED office at Civil Lines around 2 pm on Friday. After about half an hour here, the ED team started questioning him. Abbas was questioned by different ED teams for nearly nine hours. At around 9.30 pm, the police force started reaching the ED office premises. After some time, along with the police, PAC personnel also came and the entire complex was converted into a cantonment.

The ED team came out of the office before 12 o'clock in the night. After this Abbas also came out, who was in the custody of the ED. The ED officers made him sit in his car and left the office. During this, the forces of Civil Lines and Khuldabad police station were also engaged in security. He was taken into custody under tight security and taken to Colvin Hospital. There he was medically examined. After this he was again taken to the ED office and he was arrested there. His driver Ravi Kumar Sharma resident of Karanda Ghazipur has also been arrested by the police. He was interrogated even longer.

Lost sweat, could not answer many questions, MLA Abbas Ansari lost his sweat during the interrogation of ED in the money laundering case. He could not give any satisfactory answer to many questions of ED officers. He was questioned about the properties registered in his name. Along with this, information was also sought about the source of income involved in building those properties. Sources say that he remained silent on many questions. Sources say that the ED had already got some evidence against him. This was the reason why he was called again for questioning. He was taken into custody only after he did not get a satisfactory answer in the investigation. 

Sources say that during interrogation, the ED also confiscated Abbas's mobile. In the afternoon, when Abbas reached to answer ED's questions, he had left his mobile in the car. After eight hours of interrogation, his mobile was also confiscated by the ED team around 10 pm. The ED took it into custody after getting the mobile phone from his assistants who had accompanied Abbas. At present, no statement was issued by the ED till late night in this regard. 

The ED also questioned Abbas as well as his driver Ravi Kumar Sharma resident of Karanda, Ghazipur. He was called inside the office around 10 pm. But he was not confronted by Abbas sitting inside. He was interrogated by sitting in a separate chamber. During this, his ID proof was also taken from him. Not only this, his signature was also taken. 

The ED, which was involved in the investigation of the money laundering case registered on Mukhtar, had issued a lookout notice

last month, had banned Abbas from leaving the country only last month. Under this, a lookout notice was issued against him. Earlier, a lookout notice was also issued against his mother Afsha Ansari. 

Mukhtar was booked in a money laundering case in July last year. For this, the cases registered against him in Lucknow and Mau were made the basis. In this case, apart from sons, his brother MPs Afzal Ansari and Sigbatullah Ansari have also been called and interrogated for hours.
