The use of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) was restricted around Sion in Mumbai on Thursday morning amid heavy rains. The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in the financial capital and its suburbs today. Also, there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall at different places.

The IMD has issued an 'Orange' alert for Mumbai, while a 'Red' alert has been issued for Raigarh. With the 'Orange' alert, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places, while there is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall under the 'Red' alert.

Raigad district recorded 459 mm, 70 percent of the average rainfall for June. With 708.4 mm, the district has recorded 22.5 percent of the average annual rainfall so far in July (3,148 mm).

Amid continuous inclement weather, a Mumbai local train on its way to Titwala rammed into the edge of a platform at Mumbra station in neighboring Thane district on Wednesday night, disrupting services for some time.

Passengers complained that trains on slow lines were badly affected due to the incident and resulted in overcrowding on trains and platforms. Some passengers tweeted that the incident caused delays of 45 minutes to an hour for other trains on the route.

Karnataka: Two people died in separate accidents in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in all three districts of Coastal Karnataka. The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations had declared a holiday for Anganwadis, primary and high schools and pre-university colleges on July 5.

Goa: With the IMD predicting heavy rains in Goa on Thursday, the state education department has declared a day off for schools. In view of the incessant rains and the alert issued by the India Meteorological Department's Goa Center predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy rainfall, the circular issued by Director of Education Shailesh Sinai Jhingade said that the competent authority has issued instructions to students from Class I to XII has been decided to declare holiday on 6th July, 2023.

Delhi: It is raining in the national capital Delhi since Thursday morning. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has been observed in different parts of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon. It was dark in the morning because of the dark clouds.

Punjab: One person was killed and three were injured after a factory shed collapsed following heavy rains near Dehlon area on Ludhiana-Malerkotla road in Ludhiana on Wednesday. According to the weather report, in Punjab, Ludhiana received 103 mm of rain, Ferozepur 40.5 mm, Gurdaspur 33.5, Patiala 21 mm, Amritsar 17 mm and Pathankot 9.2 mm.
