The mistrust in the relationship between the BJP and JDU coalition government started with the Chirag model in the 2020 assembly elections. After this, there were many such issues including differences on many national issues, the tussle between the Speaker and the Chief Minister inside the assembly, the share in the Union Cabinet, which weakened the relationship between the two parties. In the end, the conspiracy of RCP Singh to break the JDU by joining the BJP put the last nail in the relationship between the two parties. The wounds were so deep that even a phone call from BJP stalwart Amit Shah could not stop the ties from breaking down.
Conspiracy to reduce Nitish's stature
JDU alleges that BJP conspired several times to reduce Nitish Kumar's stature. The first conspiracy was done in the 2020 assembly elections when they were harmed by the 'chirag model'. After this a conspiracy was hatched to break the party on the pretext of RCP Singh. These incidents created distrust in their relationship.
Controversy with the Speaker of the Assembly
The tussle between Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the assembly session over an issue in Lakhisarai also proved to be the turning point in the relationship between the two parties. The Chief Minister was quite angry inside the house regarding this incident. The controversy escalated when the name and picture of the Chief Minister went missing from banners and posters put up at the Vidhan Sabha Centenary Building celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the ceremony.
National President's prediction of the end of small parties
The recent reason for the controversy is also said to be the statement given by BJP National President JP Nadda in Patna, in which he predicted the end of regional parties in future. JDU state president Umesh Kushwaha has also objected to this statement.
The dilemma of not taking a stand on controversial issues
The BJP and JDU had an undeclared condition regarding the alliance that the parties of the alliance would not give shelter to the disputed issues. Due to this, JDU remained silent on many issues including agriculture bill, special status to Bihar and Agniveer. There were also differences between the two parties regarding caste-based census. Especially after the announcement of Agniveer, the war of words between the big leaders of BJP and JDU over the uproar in Bihar showed the deteriorating relationship between the two parties.
JDU not getting proper participation in the Union Cabinet
The lack of proper participation of JDU in the Union Cabinet was also one of the reasons for the sour relations between the two parties. JD(U) from the beginning was seeking participation in the Union Cabinet in proportion to the numbers, while the BJP was not ready to give more than a cabinet minister. RCC became the only Union minister bypassing JDU's stand, due to which resentment prevailed within JDU.
JDU was uneasy due to BJP's aggressive politics
Despite being in a coalition government, the aggressive politics of the BJP also caused restlessness among the JDU leaders. BJP leaders were very vocal on the issue of terrorism and nationalism. In recent days, while the BJP appeared aggressive regarding the action against PFI members, the JDU leaders remained silent.
