Every July 29, National Chicken Wings Day is celebrated in the United States, which was declared in 1977 by the then mayor of Buffalo, New York, Stan Makowski in order to not only recognize the city but also to the popular dish.

It is estimated that during this date millions of residents in Buffalo consume thousands of pounds of chicken wings and to celebrate this tradition during that day and the rest of the week many fast food chains and restaurants offer their diners discounts, offers, promotions and even free food.

According to research developed by Circana, since June 2024 to date, more than 1.2 billion servings of wings have been consumed in the United States, being one of the favorite dishes in the country, especially during the summer season.

However, the data recorded by Circana are lower than in other years and this is because the price of this food has increased in the last two years by up to 2.4%.

The prices of Chicken wings have increased slightly at restaurants over the past two years, up 2.4% year-over-year, according to digital restaurant payment platform Toast, which is used in more than 140,000 restaurants.
