Democrat Al Green promises to submit articles before Christmas to remove Donald Trump
Al Green, representative from Texas, is back on the attack against Donald Trump, whom he will again attempt to impeach
Al Green, representative from Texas, promises that before Christmas he will submit new articles of impeachment aimed at removing Donald Trump as president of the nation.
Without specifying what kind of actions he will take, the Democrat from Arkansas took on the challenge of forcing a vote on his resolutions before Congress leaves session on vacation to celebrate the end-of-year holidays.
“It’s not enough to introduce them and not put them to a vote. We will bring these articles of impeachment to a vote on the floor as a privileged resolution. And they will be voted on. Let the matter be decided,” he stated to several members of the media near the Capitol.
The complexity of Green’s mission lies in the fact that the House of Representatives is dominated by conservatives, and in a vote, there is no way they will support any action aimed at harming Trump.
Nevertheless, the tenacious politician is confident that the arguments presented will be convincing and even Republicans will support him.
“As long as we are in charge, we refuse to allow the disappearance of our democracy,” he exclaimed.
This is the fifth time that Al Green has tried to derail Donald Trump’s path, but his struggle has not found support even among members of his own party.
In In June, the Texas representative forced a vote, accusing the nation's president of abusing his power by launching military attacks against Iran without congressional approval. Surprisingly, the majority of Democrats, far from supporting him, sided with the conservatives, and the vote was overwhelmingly against his proposal, with a final result of 344 against and only 79 in favor. Knowing what has happened in the past with his initiatives to impeach Trump, this time Al Green claimed to have the Constitution on his side. “I would love to have a majority,But the Constitution doesn't contain a single word indicating that a majority is needed to initiate impeachment proceedings. It simply doesn't exist. Impeachment, conviction, and removal from office are the solution, because the Supreme Court has granted him immunity,” he emphasized.
