Trump demands apology from '60 Minutes' For the interview with Marjorie Taylor Greene
The US president stated: “My real problem wasn't the traitor… but that the new management of '60 Minutes', Paramount, aired her interview”
US President Donald Trump demanded an apology from the program “60 Minutes” for airing an interview with Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former ally of the president.
As Taylor Greene prepares to resign from Congress before the end of her term, she told the network's correspondent, Lesley Stahl, that the president is not living up to his “America First” slogan, and linked the death threats she says she has received to the president's comments about her.
Greene told “60 Minutes” that after the president called her a traitor, she received a bomb threat at her home and then “several direct death threats against my son.”
When asked about her claim that the president was responsible for the threats against her and her son, Greene responded: “The matter of the direct death threats against my son was his words: “Marjorie Traitor Greene.”
Greene told “60 Minutes” that the threats were “directly instigated by President Trump. And I told him. I told JD Vance. I told everybody.” “I sent them directly to them.”
“JD Vance responded, ‘We’ll look into it,’” Greene added. “I did receive a response from President Trump, which I will keep private, but it wasn’t very kind.”
Trump harshly criticizes his former ally
On his Truth Social network, Trump lashed out at the congresswoman, whom he recently withdrew his electoral endorsement from, saying she has become a “rotten apple” with the views of “a very dumb person.”
“Marjorie is not AMERICA FIRST or MAGA, because nobody could have changed her views that quickly, and her new views are those of a very dumb person,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
“However, my real issue with the show was not the low-IQ traitor, but that the new management of “60 Minutes,” Paramount, allowed it to air,” the president noted.who demanded “a full and complete apology.”
“They are no better than the previous management, who just paid me millions of dollars for fake reports about your favorite president, ME! Since they bought it, 60 Minutes has gone downhill!”
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a media figure on the American far right and one of Trump’s most fervent former supporters, announced on November 21 that she will leave Congress after breaking her alliance with the president over disagreements over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case and the country’s foreign policy.
Greene, who voted with Trump 98% of the time before their relationship began to deteriorate, has said she believes the president did not prioritize domestic issues on his agenda. In the video in which she announced her resignation, she also criticized his support for the cryptocurrency and pharmaceutical industries.
