The new sports policy has been implemented in Jharkhand, but the players are not benefiting from it. According to the new policy, prize money of only 40 thousand rupees will be given to the gold medal-winning players of Khelo India. On the other hand, the gold winner in Chhattisgarh is getting two lakh rupees and Haryana's players are getting a prize of one lakh rupees in the same category.
According to the sports policy, more than the players (40 thousand) prize money is to be given to their coach (50 thousand). Apart from this, there is a delay in giving the prize money in Jharkhand. This harms the players and lowers their morale.
Lowest prize money for Jharkhand players
In the Khelo India Youth Games, the players of Jharkhand have won 12 medals including seven gold this time. On the other hand, if we talk about the prize money, then the players here will get the lowest prize money. Haryana and Himachal Pradesh also give more money to their players. In Jharkhand, there is a provision of giving prize money of only 15 thousand rupees to the bronze medalist, whereas in Chhattisgarh, the bronze medalist will be given a prize of Rs one lakh.
Players' prize money is pending for one year
In other states, where prize money is given on time and employment opportunities are given along with it, in Jharkhand the opposite is the case. Here the prize money of the players is pending for a year and the players have to make rounds for it. Athletics's Ramchandra Sanga won the gold medal in Khelo India last year, but is yet to receive the prize money.
