Mourning at PSG: member of staff dies prior to duel against Inter Miami
A key figure in youth development and the first team
Paris Saint-Germain is in mourning. In the midst of its preparation for the duel against Inter Miami in the round of 16 of the 2025 Club World Cup, the club announced this Friday the death of Cédric Dupuis, a physiotherapist with more than two decades of experience within the institution. He was 48 years old.
"It is with profound sadness that we learn from the passing of Cédric Dupuis, the club's physiotherapist. Always smiling, attentive and deeply human, Cédric was a professional with golden hands, appreciated by all," PSG communicated in an emotional message posted on social media.
“The Paris Saint-Germain family sends their most sincere thoughts to their loved ones during this difficult time.”
Although the cause of his death was not publicly revealed, the news caused a strong impact inside and outside the Parisian dressing room, where Dupuis was considered much more than a member of the technical staff.
A constant presence in PSG's golden generations
Cédric Dupuis joined the club in 2000, initially with the youth teams and the women's team. Since then, his mark has been on the development of talents who would later become first-team figures, including Presnel Kimpembe and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
In 2006, he was part of the coaching staff that won the U-18 national championship, and witnessed PSG's growth across all categories. Even before Qatari fund Qatar Sports Investments acquired the club in 2011, Dupuis was already a renowned figure for his closeness to the players and his unwavering commitment. He worked closely with generations that would go on to win titles at the Under-19 level in 2010, 2011, 2016, 2024, and 2025. Throughout his career, he was considered by many to be one of the people who best understood PSG's philosophy, both on a sporting and human level. The match between PSG and Inter Miami is scheduled for this Sunday, June 29, in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup. Amidst the competition, Dupuis's memory will be with the entire squad. who will face the duel marked by this loss.
