Pakistan had to face defeat by 74 runs in the first match of the Test series against England at their own home Rawalpindi on Sunday. England took five wickets in the last session after tea to turn the match in their favor. Rawalpindi's pitches were being criticized for scoring more than 500 runs on the very first day of the game. Now after the defeat, Pakistan captain Babar Azam targeted the PCB on this matter and broke the silence on the pitch dispute.
Initially the bowlers did not get help from the pitch
Batting first, England scored a record-breaking 506 on the first day, including four centuries. When Pakistan came out to bat in the second innings, its batsmen also scored centuries. The Rawalpindi pitch was criticized for not providing any assistance to the bowlers from the pitch. After the defeat, Babar Azam was asked by a reporter how much rest the PCB gave him and the team and how much input he had in pitch preparation.
Said a big thing about the pitch
Babar revealed that he was given a lot of information but the pitch was not prepared the way it was planned and hence Pakistan faltered on their performance in the Tests. Earlier, PCB Chief Rameez Raja had also given a statement regarding the pitches and believed that the pitches are not being prepared as they should be in Test cricket.
There has been criticism about the pitch
Babar Azam said after the match that we had a lot of input regarding the pitch, we did not get the pitch that we had planned and wanted. And unfortunately our plans could not be executed. We were going on a little turning side. That was our plan. But unfortunately due to weather and due to little preparation, such a wicket could not be made. The second Test match will start from December 9 in Multan.
