Quoting a source close to the BCCI having knowledge of the matter, it is being claimed in the report that a new team will be seen playing on the field in the T20 World Cup 2024. It is also being claimed that Hardik Pandya will be handed over the captaincy of T20 format and Rohit Sharma may be relieved from the captaincy. The source also said that senior players like Virat Kohli, R Ashwin can be dropped from this format.
A BCCI source told news agency PTI on condition of anonymity that BCCI never asks any player to retire. It is a personal decision. But yes, there are only a few T20 matches to be held in 2023, most of the seniors will focus on ODIs and Test matches. You don't need to announce your retirement if you don't want to. You will not see most of the seniors playing T20 next year.
In the year 2023, India is going to host the ICC ODI World Cup. In such a situation, most of the senior players will focus on the ODI format. BCCI is also now focusing on the 50 over format.
