Tyson Fury wants the trilogy with Usyk and sets a date for it
Tyson Fury was not happy with the result of their rematch because he believes he should have been the winner and that could be the reason for the sudden challenge to Usyk
Tyson Fury wants to come out of retirement solely to fight the trilogy with unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and suggested April 18, 2026, as a possible date for the clash.
In a post On his Instagram account, Fury was not satisfied with the result of their rematch because he believes he should have been the winner and that could be the reason for the sudden challenge to Usyk.
“April 18, 2026, Wembley Stadium. The trilogy!” wrote the former heavyweight champion.
Oleksandr Usyk’s team was quick to respond to The Gypsy King and - through a statement published by ESPN - left open the possibility of a third fight, but at the moment they are focused on Daniel Dubois.
“The idea of ??a third fight with Tyson Fury has been on the table between our teams since their second fight. And I have never had any doubt that, together with Goldstar Promotions, we could make it a reality. Right now, both Oleksandr Usyk and our team are fully focused on the next fight with Dubois and on achieving the historic goal of becoming a three-time undisputed world champion. When we achieve that and the waters, we'll be ready for the next round," he said.
In 2024, the Briton starred in two big fights against Usyk. The first was for the undisputed heavyweight championship and he lost it after a great comeback from the Ukrainian. In the rematch, the monarch was more precise with his fists than Tyson Fury and repeated the victory by unanimous decision.
After knowing the result, the former heavyweight champion and promoter Frank Warren declared that the judges' scores seemed "crazy" to them because Fury - who felt robbed - only won four of 12 rounds against the Ukrainian.
After the second setback in his career, The Gipsy King was linked to a fight with Anthony Joshua to try to return to winning ways, but announced his retirement.
Tyson Fury, 36, was defeated again by the Ukrainian in the rematch and retired shortly after. The Gipsy King has a record of 34 wins, 24 by knockout, two losses, and one draw as a professional. Oleksandr Usyk, 37, retained his unified championship after dominating Tyson Fury again in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian fighter maintains his unblemished record after 23 fights, 14 of them by knockout.
