Club America and the New England Patriots begin a new era
Club America and the Azteca Stadium, with 49 percent of shares, became part of a group headed by the owner of the NFL's New England Patriots
The Eagles of America began a new era in their administration and commercial alliances by selling the Ollamani Group, headed by Emilio Azcarraga Jean, 49 percent of its shares to the General Atlantic Investment Group, an international leader in financial matters.
This business merger wouldn't be unusual, except that Club America will share a commercial alliance with The Kraft Analytics Group, a private technology and data entity affiliated with the Kraft Group, which owns the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL), the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer (MLS), and Gillette Stadium.
This decision represents a strategic move where the group that owns Club America and Estadio Azteca decided to receive the support and logistics of a highly experienced group, but where, in the negotiation, the sporting decisions and planning will remain the responsibility of the people led by Emilio Azcarraga Jean.
As part of the agreement, it was stipulated that the current owner of Club America will remain as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and will continue to lead the strategic direction of the Club and the Stadium, but with the caveat that they will have the advice of a world-class team.
In the press release that Club America published on its social media, it reaffirmed that it will not lose its essence, especially because the objective is to continue fighting for championships and continue generating the joy and support of the millions of fans they have in Mexico and beyond its borders.
How the shareholding structure ended up
Unofficial reports indicate that 49 percent of the shares of Club America and the recently named Banorte Stadium will remain in the hands of the new investment group, while 51 percent will remain with the Ollamani Group, headed by Emilio Azcarraga Jean.
It is claimed that the negotiation was worth around $490 million USD (approximately $8,771 million pesos).in figures that could be adjusted as time goes on,and the merger will allow the Eagles to continue fighting to remain the best team in Liga MX.
