The match started poorly for Barca. After six minutes, Antony dos Santos opened the scoring following a play down the left by Ez Abde that caught the visiting defense out of position. The early blow quickly woke up Hansi Flick's squad, who responded decisively and turned the result around before halftime. A persistent Betis and a Barca that exploited every space. Ferran Torres equalized immediately after a defensive error by Jules Kounde, who made amends by setting up the striker inside the six-yard box. From then on, Barcelona took control. The second goal came in the 13th minute, a volley from the Valencian striker after a pass from the Swede Roony Bardghji. Bardghji himself extended the lead after half an hour, finishing off a well-worked team move that left goalkeeper Alvaro Valles with no chance. Before halftime, the score became 1-4 after a shot from Ferran Torres was deflected by Marc Bartra, wrong-footing the goalkeeper. In the second half, Barcelona changed their approach. They decided not to take risks and ceded ground while waiting for opportunities to counter-attack. The strategy worked. A handball by Bartra, penalized by VAR, resulted in a penalty which Lamine Yamal converted to make it 1-5 in the 60th minute. Betis reacted late, but enough to reduce the deficit with goals from Diego Llorente and Cucho Hernandez, the latter from the penalty spot. Hansi Flick valued the victory despite the uneven finish. "The important thing is that they won after ninety minutes," he stated. For the manager, the difference lay in "a very good first half," although he acknowledged that in the end "we were very tired." He also highlighted the performance of Lamine Yamal, whom he saw as "very good,"Defensively too," and praised Ferran Torres, saying that "he is a very intelligent player" who knows "how to read spaces very well."
