Bill Belichick made it clear this Friday that he has no interest in returning to coach in the league, despite rumors linking him to the New York Giants after the firing of Brian Daboll.

The legendary coach, winner of six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and currently in charge of the North Carolina Tar Heels football program, issued a strong statement to put an end to any speculation about a possible return.

“I have not sought and will not seek any head coaching position in the NFL,” Belichick stated. “I have great respect for the Giants organization and for the Mara and Tisch families. They played an important role in my life and career, but my commitment is to North Carolina.”

Since taking over in Chapel Hill, Belichick has insisted that his priority is developing players and strengthening the university program.

“My primary goal is to improve this team and build a program that will make Tar Heels fans proud,” the 73-year-old veteran strategist emphasized.

His name had surfaced as a possible replacement for Daboll due to his past with the Giants, where he worked as an assistant to Bill Parcells and helped win Super Bowls XXI and XXV.
