Chelsea loses Cole Palmer for another six weeks
Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that the striker will remain out with a groin injury
Chelsea have received a further blow to their already difficult start to the season. Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed this Friday that Cole Palmer, one of the team's most prominent figures, will be out for "six more weeks" due to a groin injury that has not progressed as doctors expected.

Until a few days ago, the manager had been optimistic. Maresca was confident the player would return after the October international break, as surgery had not been necessary. However, the latest tests ruled out that scenario.
"I was wrong, unfortunately. He needs to be out for six more weeks. So yeah, that's the update," the Italian told the media.
A sensitive loss for the 'Blues' and more doubts in the infirmary
The manager explained that the club is trying to "protect Cole as much as possible," prioritizing his full recovery before thinking about his return. "The most important thing is that when he returns he's fully fit. Unfortunately, the medical staff aren't magicians. You never really know the exact time. He probably needs six weeks. We hope six weeks is enough," added Maresca. Palmer, 22, was injured just 21 minutes into the match against Manchester United last month and hasn't played since. In a season marred by injuries, the young attacker has only made two starts in all competitions, a tough blow for a player who was emerging as the London side's attacking engine. The manager also praised the player's attitude during the recovery process. "He looks calm. He's doing all the therapy he needs. He looks good," he said. But the problems don't end there. Moises Caicedo, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernandez are also doubtful for this weekend's clash with Nottingham Forest, while Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, and Andrey Santos are all ready to return.
Maresca acknowledged that replacing Palmer will be difficult. "He's a very important player for us, probably one of the best in the Premier League. Replacing someone like that is always difficult," he said. Among the tested alternatives, I mentioned Malo Gusto and Argentine Facundo Buonanotte, although he admitted that "there's no other player like Cole. He's unique."
