Boxer Dmitry Bivol is analyzing his competition options after successfully defending his titles in his recent return to the ring. Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn outlined the route the boxer's career could take in the coming months.

The unanimous decision victory over Michael Eifert marked the Russian boxer's return to activity, after a break due to injury that began in February 2025.

Combat options according to Eddie Hearn

In an interview with the promoter Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn assessed the athlete's performance and confirmed the three names that appear on the team's radar. "It was great to see him back. You saw him take his time in there, I think he probably could have gotten Eifert out of there, but it's great to accumulate rounds after a very long period of absence due to injury," the promoter declared to the aforementioned source.

The representative explained that, although there are official mandates, Dmitry Bivol's path will depend on internal negotiations. "Now he's been ordered to fight Callum Smith. People are talking about Beterbiev 3 or Benavidez, but Callum has to get his chance, so we'll see what happens," Hearn added to Matchroom Boxing.

The viability of the confrontations against Benavídez and Beterbiev

A confrontation between Dmitry Bivol and David Benavídez would allow all the belts in the 175-pound category to be unified. Benavidez is also evaluating alternatives at his current cruiserweight weight, where he recently held crowns.

If the Russian boxer opts for the fights against David Benavídez or the third edition against Artur Beterbiev, the WBO mandatory title could remain vacant. Given this scenario, Hearn explained to Matchroom Boxing the alternative plan: "If he decides to fight again against Beterbiev or against Benavidez, then it will be Callum Smith against [Joshua] Buatsi for a rematch for the world title, which would be a very important fight."

Definition on the light heavyweight agenda

Dmitry Bivol's management will meet with the promotion team to evaluate the physical appearance and contracts before making an official announcement.

Hearn concluded his speech by pointing out that the Russian boxer is fit to take on high-profile challenges for his next appearance in the ring.

The immediate future of the 175-pound division will depend on these talks. While Callum Smith awaits his mandatory opportunity for the WBO championship, the possibility of agreeing to a duel against Benavídez continues to be one of the options that generates the greatest interest in international promoters.
