Efrain Juarez reportedly lost his temper again, causing a fight against FC Juarez and even kicking them out of his facilities
The bad temper of Efrain Juarez, coach of Pumas UNAM, has once again generated negative news for the university team ahead of the start of the Clausura 2026 tournament, by causing a fight against FC Juarez players Juarez and then kicked the border team's players out of their facilities.
According to information published in the newspaper Record, Juarez, along with his assistant Luis Perez, got into a heated exchange of insults with players from the Juarez team, which escalated into a shoving match that nearly turned into a major brawl.
Not content with this, Juarez, fired up by the minor altercation with the team from the north of the country, forbade them from training at the Tigres' facilities, practically kicking them out of the place, provoking complaints and annoyance from their visitors and opponents in the last preseason game for both teams.
The problem between Efrain Juarez and Luis Perez against the Bravos' players and coaching staff occurred in the 50th minute, when the two exchanged blows, but the matter didn't escalate beyond the displeasure and insults.
But Efrain Juarez, with his irascible and short-tempered nature, apparently didn't want to let things go. When the match was suspended, the FC Juarez players scheduled a training session at the Cantera training facilities, but they were asked to leave without being allowed to complete the rest of their training—a truly discourteous act. The serious aspect of this matter is that it's not the first time Efrain Juarez has been involved in a situation of this nature. He was suspended for disciplinary reasons while managing Atletico Nacional in Colombia, and in Mexico, where he has even been criticized for trying to emulate Javier Aguirre's style. However, he has resorted to disrespectful behavior that does not reflect well on the public image of the team he leads, which represents Mexico's most prestigious university, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).Regarding the match, the Mexico City team ended up losing the friendly against Juarez thanks to goals from Jose Luis Rodriguez and Oscar Estupinan. Jordan Carrillo scored Pumas' consolation goal, but it wasn't enough. Both teams have their debuts scheduled for the upcoming tournament. FC Juarez will visit FC Mazatlan on Friday, January 9th, while Pumas will host Queretaro on January 11th.
