Lakers prepare significant increase in ticket prices for 2026-27
The franchise, under Mark Walter's ownership, is implementing changes to its prices for the upcoming season
With the Crypto.com Arena practically full every game day, the Los Angeles Lakers are heading towards implementing a significant increase in the price of their season tickets for the 2026-27 season. The organization has already sent renewal forms to its fans, confirming an adjustment that far exceeds that of the previous cycle and coincides with the new era under the ownership of Mark Walter, who acquired the franchise with a valuation of $10 billion. Attendance data helps to understand the context. In the first 26 home games during the 2025-26 season, the team averaged 18,877 spectators, according to ESPN Research. The official capacity for Lakers games is 18,910 seats, representing an occupancy rate of 99.8%. Demand, at least in terms of attendance, remains almost at full capacity. The increase, however, has drawn attention due to its magnitude. Season ticket holders in the 300 level shared documentation reflecting that the cost will increase from $6,192 in the 2025-26 season to $9,035 in 2026-27. A year earlier, in 2024-25, the same package cost $5,494. The projected increase is 45.9%, well above the 12.7% applied in the last renewal process. Not all increases are identical, but they are significant. The franchise officially confirmed the measure. “We are adjusting season ticket prices for the upcoming season,” the team stated, as revealed by ESPN. “The updates reflect the current market landscape and demand.” New business cycle and sports discourse. The announcement comes at a time of internal transition. Tim Harris, president of business operations, announced that he will leave his position at the end of the season. Lon Rosen, who has served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the Dodgers for more than a decade, is a possible replacement. It's worth remembering that that team, also under Walter's management in Los Angeles, set an attendance record last season with 4,012,470 fans in the regular season on their way to their second consecutive World Series championship.
In the message sent to season ticket holders, Harris appealed to the historical weight and current stars of the roster to contextualize the adjustment. "The Lakers are iconic. Expectations are always high.Every season is about winning another title. Every season is about elite competition and top-level basketball, because nothing compares to success with the Purple and Gold.”
“Luka (Doncic) is shaping the present and future of basketball in real time with vision, control, and impact every night. LeBron (James) continues to define what longevity, excellence, and leadership mean in this league. Year after year, the benchmark remains. Austin's star power is limitless; his dedication to basketball is unmatched.
“With a roster led by the elite basketball mind of JJ Redick, the Lakers make every game a spectacle. This is complete basketball. It is the combination of talent and leadership that puts the Lakers at the forefront of the sport.”
